PLANO, Texas -- Defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat, one of the nation's top prep players and the son of a former Dallas Cowboys standout, says he's going to Texas.
Jeffcoat made his verbal commitment to the Longhorns on Friday, five days before he can officially sign a national letter of intent with Texas.
His other finalists were Oklahoma, where his twin sister will play basketball, and Houston, where his father Jim is an assistant coach.
During his senior season at Plano West High, the 6-foot-5, 230-pound Jackson Jeffcoat had 87 tackles with 8 1/2 sacks, two interceptions, three forced fumbles and two blocked kicks. He was on the AP Class 5A all-state team.
Rivals.com listed Jeffcoat as the 12th overall prospect in the country and third among defensive ends.
