BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- Tulsa had its seven-game winning streak snapped by No. 25 UAB, 65-55 in Birmingham Tuesday. The Blazers now take sole possession of first place in Conference USA.
Jerome Jordan had 20 points while Ben Uzoh chipped-in 17 points.
The Blazers (18-2, 6-0) used an 11-2 run midway through the first half to take a 34-17 lead. The Golden Hurricane (16-4, 5-1) went into half down 38-22.
Then the Hurricane did a complete turnaround in the second half.
TU went on a 20-4 run in the second half to tie the contest with 7:29 left in the game. The Hurricane took a 46-44 lead nearly a minute later but could not maintain the margin. UAB inched ahead 51-48 with five minutes to go and never fell behind again.
Elijah Millsap had 19 points and 12 rebounds and George Drake finished with 12 points for the Blazers.
Tulsa was off to its best start since going 29-3 during the 1999-2000 season. The Golden Hurricane went to the elite eight in the NCAA tournament that year.
