TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa held off Rice for a 62-58 victory over the Owls Saturday at the Reynolds Center. The Golden Hurricane is 14-0 in Tulsa and 13-0 at home. Ben Uzoh had 17 points for TU while Donte Medder added 13.
After a back-and-forth first half, Tulsa took a 32-28 lead into halftime.
The Golden Hurricane (16-3, 5-0) led 60-51 with 50 seconds left, but the Owls (6-13, 0-5) closed out the game on a 7-2 run. Jerome Jordan sealed the contest by hitting his first free throw with one second left to put TU up four. Jordan then missed his final attempt on purpose to run out the clock. He finished with 11 points.
Both teams struggled from the field, as Rice only made 38 percent of its shots and Tulsa 40.4 percent.
Tamir Jackson had a game-high 18 points for Rice.
