OKLAHOMA CITY -- When the New York Knicks traveled to Oklahoma to play the Thunder, they spent the night before the game at the historic Skirvin Hotel.
The Knicks blamed their Jan. 11 loss to the Thunder on reported haunting they experienced while staying at the hotel.
Some say the hotel is haunted. Legend has it the hotel’s owner, W.B. Skirvin, had an affair with a maid in the 1930s. When the woman found she was pregnant, Skirvin locked her in a room on the 10th floor, attempting to hide his infidelity. Even after the birth of the child, Skirvin held the woman and the child captive in the room.
According to the old story, the woman soon became depressed and jumped from the 10th floor with her baby in her arms.
Oklahoma Sports’s Toby Rowland spent the night in the Skirvin on the 10th floor to search out the alleged ghosts that haunted the Knicks and supposedly caused their loss.
