OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City Thunder announced its plans Thursday to support Haiti earthquake disaster relief efforts at Saturday’s game against the Miami Heat.

Working in conjunction with NBA Cares and the Heat, the Thunder will have donation tables throughout the Ford Center. The Thunder Girls will be at each station to help accept donations and all proceeds will benefit the Haiti Relief Fund set up by UNICEF.

“We are all saddened to see the massive destruction caused by the earthquake in Haiti,” said Thunder Vice President of Community Relations Dan Mahoney in a statement. “With Miami’s large Haitian population, we wanted to use this game as an opportunity to partner with the Heat as members of the NBA family. It’s a chance for our fans to help the victims of this disaster and join the NBA family in supporting the relief efforts.”

The funds will be used by UNICEF to help provide safe water, temporary shelter systems and essential medical supplies. Thunder fans that cannot attend Saturday’s game can still donate online at thunder.nba.com.
