OU Obliterated by Baylor in Big 12 Opener

WACO, Texas – The Oklahoma men’s dominance of Baylor ended Saturday with a 91-60 blowout, the Sooners’ first loss to the Bears since 1977.

The Sooners (9-6) started well and gained a 20-11 lead, but the offense disappeared for the rest of the half. OU did not scored for more than five minutes and allowed Baylor (14-1) to go on a 30-6 run. The Sooners went into halftime down 41-26 lead and never recovered.

OU shot just 33 percent from the field in the first half, while Baylor shot 55 percent. The Sooners also made just two of seven first-half 3-pointers.

Things did not get any better for OU in the second half. Baylor continued to shoot well and never allowed the Sooners to get within 10 points for the rest of the game.

Baylor finished shooting 59 percent from the field, while OU shot 38 percent. Both teams attempted 20 3-pointers; Baylor made 10, OU made five.

Baylor’s LaceDarius Dunn finished with a game-high 28 points, 23 of which came in the second half. Tweety Carter scored 18 and Ekpe Udoh added 13.

Tiny Gallon led OU with 17 points and Tony Crocker added 16. Gallon was the only OU player to make more than 50 percent of his field goals.

The game was OU’s first of Big 12 play, and the Sooners have now lost three of their last four heading into the Bedlam rivalry game Monday. Baylor has now won nine games in a row, with its only loss by three points on Nov. 26 to Alabama.
