DALLAS -- There are 22 seniors getting ready to play their final game in a Cowboy uniform and it’s easily one of the most accomplished senior classes in Oklahoma State history.
Their 33 wins are the second-most in school history, it’s the first class to make four straight bowl appearances and the seniors led the Cowboys to six conference wins this season, the most in school history.
In this accomplished class, there may not be a player as accomplished as linebacker Andre Sexton.
In 2006, his redshirt freshman season, Sexton started all 13 games for OSU at safety and led the team in solo tackles (57), total tackles (79) and forced fumbles (3). His efforts garnered a Big 12 All-Freshman team selection, Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year honors and he was selected to the Academic All-Big 12 team.
His sophomore season, Sexton finished the season fourth on the team in tackles with 69 and played an important role in the Cowboys Insight Bowl win over Indiana. It was the first game he played at the hybrid/linebacker position and led OSU with 10 tackles in the game.
The third season for Sexton was perhaps his best statistically. He was No. 12 in the Big 12 with 100 tackles and ninth in tackles by linebackers.
When he takes the field in Dallas against Ole Miss, Sexton will make his 51st start in a Cowboys uniform, the most all-time.
