OKLAHOMA CITY -- The University of Oklahoma's Gerald McCoy and Trent Williams were named consensus All-Americans by the NCAA Thursday. The announcement brings the total number of consensus All-American Sooners to 72, ranking OU fifth nationally and first among Big 12 Conference members.
Williams, a senior offensive tackle, was selected first-team by the Associated Press, the American Football Coaches’ Association and the Camp Foundation. Williams has been a three-year starter for Oklahoma.
McCoy, a junior defensive tackle, was selected first-team by the The Sporting News, the Walter Camp Foundation and the Football Writers Association of America.
A points system is used to determine the selections of the consensus All-American team. Three points are granted for first team, two points for second team and one point for third team.
The Sooners will face Stanford in El Paso in the Sun Bowl Dec. 31. Check out all the Oklahoma Sports bowl coverage.
