NORMAN, Oklahoma – Multiple sources have confirmed to Oklahoma Sports’s Toby Rowland that Oklahoma wide receiver Jameel Owens is going to transfer.

Owens was a four-star recruit from Muskogee and was ranked the No. 8 wide receiver in the nation by Rivals.com in 2008. He was rated the top player in the state and No. 52 overall in the nation, but rarely saw the field as a Sooner.

Owens did not register a catch this year and has only four in his career. NCAA rules dictate that if he transfers to another Division I school he must sit out one season, but because he did not use his redshirt at OU he will not lose a year of eligibility.

Owens has not made a final decision about where he wishes to transfer, but he will likely remain in the state and go to Tulsa. His other options include Houston and Arkansas. Houston is coached by former OU offensive coordinator Kevin Sumlin and was the most prolific passing offense in the nation this season.
