TULSA, Oklahoma -- Oral Roberts outlasted cross-town rival Tulsa to claim a 74-69 overtime victory in the Mayor’s Cup. Georgia Jones hit a 3-pointer in the extra-period to give the Golden Eagles their first lead since the first half.
Kevi Luper led ORU with 18 points and was one of four players scoring double-figures for the Golden Eagles. Jones and Jaci Bigham had 14 points while Janae Voelker added 13.
ORU (7-2) jumped out to an early 8-2 lead, but Tulsa (3-5) battled back to pull within one with 16:34 on the clock. The Golden Eagles were able to pull ahead by seven, but TU was able to tie the contest, 18-all with 9:21 to play. TU maintained the lead throughout the remainder of the first half.
The Golden Hurricane went ahead 39-30, with 16:02 on the clock in the second half, but ORU tied the game 58-58 with 56-seconds remaining in regulation and forced overtime.
Larrissa Williams had a double-double for the Hurricane with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Taleya Mayberry had a game-high 22 points.
