WEST POINT, New York – The Oklahoma women’s basketball team overcame a slow first half to win 59-46 over Army Thursday.
Nyeshia Stevenson carried the Sooners’ offense in the first half, scoring 10 of the team’s 23 points. After going back and forth throughout the half, Army went on a 9-1 run in the final minutes to take a 29-23 lead into halftime.
The OU offense came out much hotter as the second half began. The Sooners started the half on a 12-1 run to help build their biggest lead of the game at the time and never looked back.
As OU (8-2) thrived, Army (5-5) continued to struggle scoring points. The Sooners outscored the Black Knights 36-17 in the second half.
Stevenson led all scorers with 20 points, while Abi Olajuwon recorded a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds and Danielle Robinson added 12 points.
Nalini Hawkins was the only Black Knight to score in double digits, registering 13 points.
The win gives the Sooners four in a row and comes close on the heels of two straight overtime victories against Arkansas and Marist.
