TULSA, Oklahoma -- Oral Roberts junior point guard Roderick Pearson will miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee. The injury occurred during the November 21 game against Virginia. An MRI on Friday confirmed that Pearson is done for the year.
“Our worst fears were confirmed this morning,” said head coach Scott Sutton. “I’m very disappointed for Rod and for the team, but we’re confident surgery will go well, and he’ll be back to 100 percent by next summer.”
Pearson propelled ORU to its biggest win of the season back on November 18, when he beat the buzzer with an 18-foot jumper to stun Stanford 83-81 in Palo Alto. Pearson started the Golden Eagles' first four games and averaged 4.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.
Pearson is the third Golden Eagle to suffer an ACL injury this season, joining freshman point guard Hunter McClintock and redshirt freshman forward Tim Morton, who were both injured during a preseason practice.
