OU Sooners Dominate Texas A&M for 55-Point Win

NORMAN, Oklahoma – The Oklahoma Sooners took advantage of Texas A&M turnovers in the first half to build a huge lead that the Aggies could not recover from, and OU extended its home winning streak to 29 games with a 65-10 victory.

Landry Jones lit up the Texas A&M defense, throwing for a career-high 392 yards and five touchdowns. The Sooners racked up a total of 611 yards, by far the most of their season, and had 31 first downs.

The OU defense also played well again. The only touchdown it surrendered came when Texas A&M started inside the 10-yard line. The Aggies had only 183 total yards and did not score after the first quarter.

The Sooners (6-4, 4-2) got on the board first with their third defensive touchdown of the season. Frank Alexander forced a fumble, which Brian Jackson picked up and returned 52 yards to give OU a 7-0 lead.

Receiver Ryan Broyles then broke a 25-yard touchdown run on a reverse to give OU a 14-0 lead. Texas A&M responded with a field goal, breaking OU’s streak of 11 consecutive games holding teams scoreless in the first quarter.

Landry Jones threw an interception on the first play of the next drive, and the Aggies capitalized with a touchdown pass by Jerrod Johnson to cut the lead to 14-10. That was the score at the end of the first quarter and was the closest Texas A&M would come for the rest of the night.

The Aggies turned it over two more times in the first half, and the Sooners converted both into touchdowns. OU scored unanswered touchdowns on its final four possessions of the half and took a 42-10 lead into the locker room.

Things did not get any better for A&M in the second half. The Aggies failed to score any more points, while the OU offense continued to move the ball at will.

DeMarco Murray recorded his second 100-yard receiving game of the season, finishing with 143 yards and two touchdowns. He also led the Sooners with 80 rushing yards, while Chris Brown added two rushing touchdowns.

Ryan Broyles finished with more than 100 all-purpose yards and two total touchdowns, while Adron Tennell had one of his best games of the season, catching five passes for 76 yards and two touchdowns.

The win makes the Sooners bowl eligible and keeps Texas A&M from accomplishing the same feat. The Aggies will now have to beat either Baylor or Texas to earn a bowl bid.
