University of Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford will not play this weekend according to head coach Bob Stoops. Following the Sooners’ Monday night practice, Stoops ruled out Bradford for the matchup against Kansas, but wouldn’t go any further beyond that.

“He’s not going to play this week. I just assumed everyone understood that,” said Stoops. “From there, the path hasn’t been determined yet.”

Bradford re-injured his right shoulder in the first quarter of OU’s annual Red River Rivalry game against Texas last weekend when cornerback Aaron Williams sacked him, landing squarely on his shoulder. Texas went on to win 16-13 with freshman Landry Jones under center in relief. In all, Bradford has missed about a month’s time after first sustaining the injury in the team’s season-opener.

An announcement was initially expected on Thursday, but Stoops added that he doesn’t anticipate having much more information on the injury.

The Heisman winner's injury had OU fans worried in Dallas last weekend, but no new injury has been found since Saturday. Yesterday, ESPN’s Joe Schad reported Bradford had undergone an MRI and X-ray. The tests determined no further injury, just an aggravation of the pre-existing injury.
