STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- A year ago, Hubert Anyiam accounted for three catches for a total of 32 yards.

In the game against the Missouri Tigers, Anyiam had 10 catches for 119 yards.

“The thing about Hubert is that he has a great feel for the game, it comes natural to him,” said Cowboys quarterback Zac Robinson. “We’ve obviously worked more and more the past few weeks with Dez being out, but he continues to get better and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season to see how many plays we can make.”

When All-American wide receiver Dez Bryant was held out against Grambling State, Oklahoma State Cowboy fans were left wondering who would make the plays in the passing game.

Three weeks later, the six-foot tall sophomore from Garland, Texas, stepped into the role.

“We learned a good lesson in the fact that you never know what a young man will do when he’s presented the opportunity,” said Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy. “I wouldn’t say surprised is accurate. I’m very pleased with how some of the guys have stepped up and made some plays, and Hubert (Anyiam) is one of them.”

Anyiam was able to get going early in the game, accounting for 30 yards on the Cowboys opening drive, which proved to be the key to breaking the game open.

“When we get things going early it just allows me to make plays,” said Oklahoma State wide receiver Hubert Anyiam. “And once you start making plays and scoring our defense rolls off that and then they start making plays and that way we come out with a ‘W’.”

With Anyiam making big plays, the offensive chemistry that was lacking earlier in the season is finally starting to emerge. And as he continues to produce, the offense will continue to build momentum throughout conference play.

“[Zac Robinson] is starting to develop that confidence with me,” said Anyiam. “I’m just getting more confident with him about it, and when I get more confident that’s when I start making plays.”
