In its "Remembering the Red River Rivalry" series, Oklahoma Sports looks back at the previous five installments of the classic rivalry. Complete with a full slate of photos and game recaps, Oklahoma Sports will feature one game per day this week, beginning with the 2004 matchup Monday.

2004: Oklahoma, 12-0
2005: Texas, 45-12
2006: Texas, 28-10
2007:Oklahoma, 28-21
2008: Texas, 45-35

Revenge.

After being beaten - nay - drubbed 189-54 in the previous five matchups, Texas took it to OU early. After a 24-6 first half lead, the Longhorns never looked back, winning the series’ 100th installment 45-12.

Vince Young, a year older and wiser, proved himself a Heisman Trophy candidate. The Houston, Texas native tossed for 241 yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, with previous Heisman winner Jason White out of the fold, Rhett Bomar was unspectacular at best under center. He threw for 94 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and coughed up a fourth-quarter fumble.

Texas gained 444 yards of total offense, dwarfing OU’s 171.

Billy Pittman torched the Sooners for 100 receiving yards with just four catches. Wideout Ramonce Taylor and running backs Selvin Young and Jamaal Charles each added touchdowns.

The win gave Texas its first perfect post-Red River Rivalry record since 1983.

Stat of the Game: 12.89 yards per carry.

If Vince Young wasn’t enough, OU had to worry about Charles busting big gains. His 12.89 yards per carry earned him 119 total rushing yards, a Texas freshman record in the series.
