VINITA, Oklahoma -- After falling below 500 Tuesday, outage totals in the Northeast Oklahoma Electric Cooperative's service area were pushed back up to 1,380 members without power Wednesday morning.

NEOEC crews and mutual aid assistance personnel from neighboring cooperatives are back out restoring service.

Officials say crews are expected to make substantial gains through the day and the cooperative still expects to have service restored by Thursday night for all members who can safely receive power.

"We suffered a setback Tuesday night, but we anticipate good progress today," said NEOEC's Manager of Operations, Rick Shurtz. "Our goals remain the same. We just have to clear a few more hurdles to get there now."

NEOEC continues to urge caution in areas where damaged electrical facilities may be present. Steer clear of downed lines and treat them as if they are still energized.
