NOWATA, Oklahoma – A Nowata County man was charged Friday in connection with a deadly hit and run earlier this month.
Court records show Roy Cheatham faces first degree manslaughter charge in the death of 46-year-old Richard Sullivan, Jr.
The accident happened on State Highway 28 near Nowata on May 9, 2011.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Cheatham was driving east on the highway when he left the road, hitting and killing Sullivan.
Troopers said Sullivan was walking in the eastbound shoulder.
Records show Cheatham is also charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident, failure to carry insurance, and reckless driving.
His bond is set at $500,000.
