BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -- Law enforcement officers throughout the state will take part in the annual "Click It or Ticket" program May 23 through June 5. Officers will be on the lookout for drivers and passengers who are not buckled up according to state law.

Statistics show that one out of every 10 drivers on the road will be involved in a traffic crash at some point in their lives, and you stand a far better chance of surviving a serious injury crash if you are wearing a seat belt, according to the Oklahoma Public Safety web site.

Oklahoma law requires drivers and front seat passengers age 13 and over to have a safety belt fastened at all times their car is being operated. Children age 12 and younger must be restrained in a car seat, booster seat or seat belt depending on their age and weight.

Green Country officers held a news conference in Thursday morning at St. John Broken Arrow Hospital to announce their participation in the program.

Save a life – it may be your own – by following the law today and every day.
