Two Oklahoma Music Stars To Be Honored For Writing Songs

NEW YORK CITY -- Two Oklahoma natives will be officially honored for their songwriting contributions next month at the Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York City.

Owasso resident Garth Brooks, who penned 'If Tomorrow Never Comes' and the 'The River' along with legendary Tulsa songwriter Leon Russell, whose credits include 'This Masquerade' and 'Tight Rope' will be at the induction ceremony on June 16, 2011.

Other writers being honored for their songwriting talents include Allen Toussaint, John Bettis, Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly.

Established in 1969, the Songwriters Hall of Fame serves as a vital bridge between music's past and future.

The ceremony will take place at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.
