Teen Killed In Broken Arrow Head-On Collision

BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -- A 16-year-old girl was killed in a head-on collision overnight Saturday in Broken Arrow. The wreck took place on Omaha or 51st Street near Battle Creek Road at about 1:30 a.m.

A 42-year-old woman driving a Chevy Cruze was eastbound on Omaha, and the 16-year-old was westbound in a Hyundai Accent when one of the drivers crossed the center line.

The 42-year-old driver was in serious condition with lower body injuries. She was taken to an area hospital, according to Sergeant Pat DuFriend of the Broken Arrow Police Department. The 16-year-old was taken to a local hospital where she died of her injuries.

DuFriend said the accident is still under investigation, but there did not appear to be any drugs or alcohol involved the wreck.

Police have not released names of the victims.
