SALLISAW, Oklahoma -- People in several towns in Eastern Oklahoma will have hefty repair bills after severe storms rolled through the area.
Those storms dropped baseball to softball sized hail in several parts of Sequoyah County, including Sallisaw.
All over Sallisaw, this is what you see. Many cars are covered with tarps. Donna Walters' car is one of many with damage.
"I mean it was coming down real hard. Just shew, shew shew for a long time it hit like that," Walters said.
The hail shattered windows, dented cars and rattled nerves. Many of the hail stones were big, really big... The largest hail many have seen in quite some time.
Anna Chandlers' vehicles and home took a beating.
"Well, me back glass in my car got broke out and dents. Like Chip's truck does here. The roof of the house is beat up," Chandlers said.
The roofs of many homes are beat up. Roofer Steve Adams will do dozens of estimates over the next few days.
"It can total roofs. All kinds of damage, sliding, windows, gutters, all kinds of roof repairs need to be done in this local area," Adams said.
We all know hail is common during Springtime in Oklahoma, but it's out of the ordinary for it to get this big.
"I thought my God, that thing. It just kept, I mean it was hitting hard. Right here, all over right in here," Walters said.
Many people saved the giant chunks to show off. Just hearing and seeing hail like this is enough to make everyone uneasy, whether they had damage or not.
Many people in Sequoyah County cringed as it fell and will cringe again over the next few months as they face expensive repair bills, from one heck of a hailstorm.
