Expect mostly cloudy, windy, and cool conditions today with highs in the lower 60s.  A few showers are possible across northeastern OK and southeastern Kansas during the next few hours.  The weekend appears cool and calm with highs well below the seasonal average.

The cold front is moving out of the region this morning and gusty northwest winds are beginning to develop across northwestern OK.  Cool air will continue to move across the state during the next few hours.

The upper level system currently over Kansas will brush the northeastern part of the state this morning with a few showers in some locations. Most of this activity, if it occurs at all, will be northeast of Tulsa, but just in case it drops slightly south before turning east, I will mention a chance in the Tulsa metro. Locations south of Tulsa will have very little chance of showers today.

Gusty northwest winds will move across the region with winds from 15 to near 30 mph later this afternoon and temperatures will be in the lower to mid 60s today compared to the lower 80s we've been experiencing the past week.

The temperatures this weekend will also be below the normal average with morning lows in the 40s and afternoon highs in the 60s for both Saturday and Sunday.

The upper air flow may bring a few showers to the northern part of the state this weekend but the chances remain very low.  This morning the data indicates another upper level wave, very weak, may brush the OK-Kansas border Sunday morning, but I will not include a pop on the 7 day planner for this slim chance.

The pattern next week will feature a ridge of high pressure across the central part of the nation while upper level storms will be located on the west coast and the east coast.  This pattern is a blocking pattern that will keep the western storm to our west until Wednesday or Thursday of next week. This system will be a major storm, and will bring a chance of strong to severe storms by next Thursday with gusty south winds and highs in the upper 70s.

The GFS and EURO ensembles indicate an active southwesterly flow aloft pattern from the end of next week through the latter part of May, which is very typical for this time of year.
