Union School Board Approves New Boundary Changes

TULSA, Oklahoma – Tulsa Public Schools isn't the only district drawing up new boundaries.

The Union Board of Education approved new boundary changes for some of the district's elementary schools Monday night, district officials said.

About 200 students will be affected by the new plan, which is part of an effort to ease crowding and more evenly distribute enrollment numbers.

The new plan affects seven of Union's 13 elementary schools: Boevers, Briarglen, Darnaby, Grove, Jarman, Moore, and McAuliffe.

The district's Long Range Planning Committee said the plan was the "least disruptive" of all those considered. Committee member Ken Daily called the process "difficult."

"The total number of students affected is low, but understandably, if you are affected, the numbers don't really matter to you," Daily said. "Committee members were sensitive to that."

The district said it is notifying parents whose children are affected by the changes.
