TULSA, Oklahoma -- For the second year, fellow police officers and Marine squad mates of Jared Shoemaker are raising money in his memory.
The Tulsa Police rookie had just graduated first in his academy class when he was called up to serve in Iraq. Shoemaker was killed in 2006 when his vehicle drove over a bomb.

Those he served beside are trekking to Stillwater, sharing laughs and tears along the way.
"One of the guys he was in the vehicle with him is here. He received burns over 90 percent of his body, but he's been able to pull through and he came out this year," Adam Ashley, Tulsa Police, said.
Also along for this year's trip is Steve Shoemaker, who was inspired to join the army after his brother's death.
Last year's walk raised $15,000 for Special Olympics. If you would like to donate, check out firstgiving.com
