TULSA, Oklahoma -- A Locust Grove high school band is getting a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. They're recording in Tulsa's famous Church Street Studio.

But, it's not just that they're recording there, it's what they're recording. Thanks to a New York composer, the band recently performed a special composition.

Students say this whole experience has brought them closer together.

"You can definitely see that we're starting to become friends, we talk to each other at school, we talk to each other at church and just basically hang out a lot. So, that's pretty neat," said band member Carissa Sanders.

The composer used three wood sculptures by a local artist for inspiration. The composition is called "Going With The Grain" and is meant to represent the Cherokee people's unique past.

Each student gets a copy of the recording to keep as a memento.
