UNDATED -- In the country of Japan cranes are a powerful symbol of health and well wishes.

Students from across the United States are reaching out to victims by taking part in the "Million Cranes Project."

The goal is for children from a thousand U.S. schools to make a thousand origami cranes raising a million dollars for the American Red Cross.

Right now, no Oklahoma schools or organizations are participating in the project.
