ORU Dedicates Lounge To Veterans

TULSA, Oklahoma -- Oral Roberts University is thanking its student soldiers.

With song and special ceremony, the university dedicated a Veterans Lounge Thursday. ORU says it wanted to do something to honor students who have served in the military in the past and those who are currently serving.

The whole idea started when ORU's president noticed USO lounges in airports.

"One day I asked a young soldier who was coming out, I said ‘do you enjoy those USO lounges' and he said,' I do, it means a great deal to me,' but he said, ‘the fact that it's here, even if I don't go in, is what I like,'" Dr. Mark Rutland said.

ORU also recently started a Veterans Organization that supports students.
