TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa police said a man they arrested in connection with a fatal shooting admitted to firing several gunshots at a car at an east Tulsa intersection around 5 a.m. Sunday.
Police said 20-year-old Bryshell Downing was shot while riding in a car in east Tulsa. Downing was brought to Hillcrest Hospital at about 5 a.m. Sunday where she was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the head, according to Tulsa Police Corporal Mark Secrist.
"The doctors worked on her, and she did not survive the shooting," he said.
Downing was a passenger in a Chrysler Sebring that was occupied by two other young women and a 6-year-old child. The child was uninjured, Secrist said. Police originally stated the child in the car was 2 years old.
Police arrested Demarco Page, 19, later Sunday in connection with Downing's murder after a tip led police to him in Muskogee.
Officers said Page told them he'd followed the victim's car, then pulled up next to it and started shooting.
Page was arrested on a first-degree murder complaint.
