TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Discovery School of Tulsa hosted a school-wide garage sale to raise funds for the people of Japan. The idea for the fundraiser came from kindergarten students who wanted to donate their toys to victims of the earthquake and tsunami disaster.

Instead, the school came up with the idea of selling toys to donate the proceeds to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief program for the recovery in Japan.

The students told The News On 6 that the best part of the experience was helping people - and buying some of the toys on sale.

The garage sale was held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the school's parking lot. Discovery School of Tulsa is located at 4821 S. 72nd East Avenue.
