Police say the officer stopped Alexander because they saw something suspicious. Police say Alexander was with someone when officers tried to talk to him, but only Alexander ran away.
Officers aren't saying why Alexander looked suspicious, but explained their thought process leading up to the shooting.
"Most people don't run, so that raised a red flag. Then when you catch up to them and they start scuffling with you and resisting, there goes another red flag," said Tulsa Police Officer Leland Ashley.
Ashley says when Alexander reached for a gun, that was the final flag.
Officer Wollmershauser has been with Tulsa police for six years. He's currently on paid leave.
