TULSA, Oklahoma – A Tulsa homeowner fired a shot at two would-be burglars early Wednesday morning.
It happened about 3 a.m. at a home in the 700 block on North Florence.
The homeowner told police he was awakened by his dog who was growling at the back door.
He said he heard someone trying to open the back door so he grabbed his handgun. He told police he fired one shot at the suspects when he heard them trying to kick in the back door.
"The homeowners here have been victims of a burglary, both of their home and their vehicles, in the past, so as a result of that they had purchased a firearm for protection," Tulsa Police Sergeant Parsons said.
Police said the suspects took off before officers arrived.
Officers are looking for two black males. One is described as 18-20 years old; 5'9"-5'10," wearing a dark hoodie and black shorts.
The other suspect is described as 18-20 years old, 5'8"-5'10," wearing a light colored shirt.
Police said there have been several burglaries in the area recently.
