TULSA, Oklahoma -- A woman was killed attempting to cross 71st Street early Sunday morning.
Tulsa Police say 30-year-old Megan Shepard was trying to cross the 6-lane street at Utica wearing dark clothing when she was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound.
Police say the driver of the Chevy Malibu was not at fault. He was going the posted speed limit and was not under the influence at the time of the accident, police said.
Police say Shepard was just crossing in a bad spot and not paying attention.
"People are going to be crossing the road, make sure the roadway is clear in both directions and be wearing light colored clothing," said TPD Sgt. Quentin Houck.
She was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
