Tulsa Police Officers Take The Polar Plunge

TULSA, Oklahoma -- A group of Tulsa Police officers took the plunge Saturday, February 26, 2011  to benefit Oklahoma's Special Olympics.  

Tulsa Police officers Heather Weakley, Corporal Dan Ward, Captain Dennis MacDonnell, Sergeant Jacob Thompson and Brent Sanders braved chilly temperatures to jump into the swimming pool at Nienhuis Park in Broken Arrow. 

This year's Tulsa Police Academy class also participated Saturday. 

The temperature at the time was 36 degrees. 

This is the tenth year Special Olympics has held this event. 

The Tulsa Police Department raised more than $1,700 for Oklahoma's Special Olympics.
