Tulsa Police Officer Injured When SUV Hits His Car

BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -- A Tulsa police officer was taken to a Broken Arrow hospital after his patrol car was struck near 71^st and Garnett Wednesday morning. 

Broken Arrow Police said the TPD officer was eastbound on 71^st at Aster when the crash occurred.

The driver of the southbound SUV said her view was blocked by a school bus which also turning onto Aster when she tried to make a left turn.

Neither the SUV's driver nor her passenger was injured.  The officer, who said he had a previous back injury, was taken by ambulance to the hospital to be checked out.

The patrol car had to be towed from the crash scene.   The driver of the SUV was cited for failure to yield.
