TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa Police and firefighters responded to a head-on collision at the 2600 block of East 61st Street Saturday morning. The wreck was reported at about 9:20 a.m. near Southern Hills Country Club.
Tulsa police say a small GMC pickup was traveling westbound on 61st Street on the curvy road that passes the golf course and failed to straighten back out after curving to the left. The pickup crossed traffic into the westbound lanes.
Brad Brazeal was eastbound in a Dodge Ram and said he tried to swerve out of the way but could not. The GMC hit his vehicle almost head on, totaling the GMC and causing major damage to the Dodge.
Brazeal said he tried to help the driver until paramedics arrived. Tulsa Fire Department had to free the GMC driver from the truck.
The 50-year-old man driving the GMC was taken to the hospital in serious condition but is expected to make it. Brazeal had minor injuries. The name of the injured man has not been released.
