TULSA, Oklahoma -- ORU made a big announcement at the homecoming Chapel service Friday morning.
President Mark Rutland told students about plans to build the Armand Hammer Alumni Student Union. The news brought students to their feet cheering.
Work started on the project a decade ago, and then it was put on hold. Now, Rutland says it's finally time to move forward.
"We're not gonna draw this out," Rutland said. "Thanksgiving Day we'll finish, we'll total up and we're gonna build the building that we can afford at that moment, incurring absolutely no debt."
ORU received eight million dollars from the Armand Hammer Foundation and Cardone Foundation to build the new student union.
