TULSA, Oklahoma -- With the extreme cold weather this week, the Tulsa Police Department is reminding drivers that letting vehicles warm up while unattended makes them easy targets for thieves.

During extreme cold weather police say they often see a spike in the number of vehicles being stolen in the early morning hours when people are warming up their vehicles.

Thieves also target convenience stores where customers often leave their vehicles running unattended.

Tulsa Police recommend staying with the vehicle as it warms up and never leave the vehicle unattended with the engine running.
