UNDATED -- An Oklahoma man is following in the footsteps of history.
Ron Cooper is walking the Trail of Tears, hoping to change the way Native Americans see themselves.
A member of the Comanche tribe, Cooper says say the trail signifies what Native Americans have lost. He wants them to see how far they've come.
Cooper set off on this 850-mile journey nearly two weeks ago. He's already made it to Tennessee and emotions are running high.
"When I went over there to the other end of Blythe Ferry and went to the water I just started crying, just to see all the people or imagine all the people that had to cross and how sad they must have been," he said.
