TULSA, Oklahoma -- Five people were transported to the hospital, including two small children, after a car rolled over and hit two pedestrians on Highway 169.
Police say the wreck happened when the driver of the car tried to avoid a recliner on the highway.
It happened around 4:30 p.m. Sunday on the northbound lanes just before the I-244 interchange.
Police say two men were on the highway retrieving a recliner that fell off their truck when a woman rolled her car trying to avoid hitting the furniture and the men.
The car continued to roll against a concrete divider, pinning one of the pedestrians and hitting the other man.
The two men were transported to the hospital with unknown injuries. The woman suffered only minor injuries.
Two small children were in the back of the car, but appeared to have suffered little or no injuries, according to police.
"There's an ordinance that says anytime you're taking a load it has to be secured so that it cannot come off your truck," said Tulsa Police Sergeant Mark Watson.
Watson added that the hazard the recliner posed was not worth the men getting onto the highway.
northbound traffic was backed up for miles while crews cleared the scene.
