TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa Police have arrested a 20-year-old man for holding three people against their will inside an apartment early Tuesday morning.

Police got a call shortly before 2 a.m. about the hostage incident in the 1300 block of East 36th Street North.

When officers arrived they saw Demont Payne inside the apartment.  He refused to cooperate with officers by not opening the door.

A short time later, one of the hostages stepped out on an upstairs balcony and indicated to officers they were upstairs in the apartment and Payne was downstairs.

At that point, Tulsa Police entered the apartment and rescued the three hostages, including a 5-month-old baby.

After rescuing the hostages, police officers searched it again and found Payne hiding in a closet.

He was arrested and booked into the Tulsa County jail on complaints of kidnapping and several outstanding warrants.

The Tulsa Housing Authority told police Payne had been banned from the property.
