TULSA, Oklahoma – Several units at a Tulsa apartment complex were damaged Monday night after a fire swept through part of the complex.
Neighbors reported the fire at the Lake Apartments, located near 81st and Riverside, about 9 p.m.
Firefighters arrived to find flames coming from the roof.
"We did a pretty rapid aggressive fire tact, and our guys were able to put it out pretty quick," Tim Smallwood, with the Tulsa Fire Department said. "This could have been a whole lot worse."
Firefighters said the fire started in a downstairs unit and spread to an upper unit, and eventually reached an attic. They said about four to five units sustained fire, smoke, or water damage.
Firefighters said two people were inside the top unit and three people were inside the downstairs unit at the time the fire broke out. No one was injured. The Red Cross is assisting those residents.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
