TULSA, Oklahoma -- Police arrested a 33-year-old Tulsa man they say led officers on a chase after hitting a parked car in a fast food restaurant parking lot early Wednesday morning.
Police say they saw a pickup truck pulling a flatbed trailer hit a car in the Whataburger parking lot at 14th Street and Peoria at about 4:30 a.m. When the truck left the parking lot, police tried to pull it over and a chase began.
Police say a Jeep broadsided the trailer when the truck ran a stoplight at 21st and Cincinnati and the impact knocked the trailer loose from the truck.
The chase ended at 17th and Owasso when police say the driver, Jason Ireland, got out of the truck and ran.
Officers arrested Ireland and took him to the Tulsa County jail on complaints of hit and run, eluding police and possession of a stolen trailer.
The Tulsa County jail says Ireland had been released from jail on Tuesday on unrelated charges.
According to the Department of Corrections web site, Ireland had been released from prison in November after serving part of a 3-year sentence for eluding police and leaving the scene of an accident. Those charges stemmed from an incident on April 6th, 2009 in Tulsa.
