TULSA, Oklahoma -- A Tulsa woman was killed when she was hit by a pickup truck on state Highway 412 near Sand Springs Tuesday night.

The accident happened near the 177th West Avenue exit at about 8 p.m.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said 43-year-old Shirley Clausen and 37-year-old Christopher Turner were eastbound when they pulled off to the side of the road to fix a flat tire.

"Two of them decided to cross the highway to go to a gas station, at that point which they got struck by another vehicle," said OHP trooper Matthew Middleton.

Clausen died at the scene.  Turner was taken to a Tulsa hospital where he was treated and released.

The four men in the 2010 Chevy pickup truck, who were all from Arkansas, were not injured.

The eastbound lanes of state Highway 412 were shut down for about an hour after the accident.
