OTTAWA COUNTY -- A Disney teen was killed overnight Sunday when her disabled car was struck by a semi-trailer truck about four miles west of the Miami exit on the Will Rogers Turnpike in Ottawa County.
Nineteen-year-old Jami Herring was trying to get out of her 2006 Chevy Cobalt that was disabled in the westbound lanes of the highway after striking the concrete center dividing wall earlier.
Arkansas resident Robert Brehm, 60, was driving westbound in a 2010 Freightliner and was unable to avoid the Cobalt, according to a report by OHP trooper Mark Khun.
A passenger in Herring's car, 18-year-old Devonta Carter of Vinita was not injured.
Neither Brehm nor a passenger, 48-year-old Virgil James of Benton, Arkansas sustained any injuries.
Herring died at the scene of the accident and was transported to a Miami funeral home.
OHP troopers say Herring's condition prior to the accident is unknown.
Cause of the accident is listed as vehicle stopped in traffic lane.
