Tulsa Health Department Breaks Ground on North Regional Health and Wellness Center

TULSA---The Tulsa Health Department broke ground today on their North Regional Health and Wellness Center.

The $8.2 million building was funded with local and private donations, operational funding will be provided by a mix of federal, state and local dollars.

‘We really had to think creatively,' said Rik Helmerich, Chair of the Tulsa City-County Board of Health, ‘the Tulsa Industrial Authority really came through for us when we were able to refinance our bonds, cover some of our costs, the foundations, who always have to step forward when government can't, and then the County Commission was tremendous in giving us this land.'

The Health and Wellness Center located at North 56th Street at Cincinnati will provide preventative health services that studies show is greatly needed in this area.
