UNDATED -- Free trees are being given away to Oklahomans in September. Oklahomans are eligible to get up to 10 free trees from redbuds to maple trees, dogwoods - up to 10 different types that thrive in our state.
To get them, log onto The Arbor Day Foundation and become a member of the non-profit organization called the Arbor Day Foundation. The Foundation has a mission to revitalize our forests and transform our cities and towns nationwide.
A 6-month membership costs $10; a full year is $15. In Oklahoma, there are more than 15,000 members. Last year, Oklahomans planted 152,000 new trees across our state.
How big are the trees? They arrive 6- to 12-inches tall and are shipped postpaid when it's time to plant, between October 15 and December 10th. If the trees don't grow, they'll be replaced for free.
The trees come with a free planting book that walks you through how to plant and how to care for the trees.
