SAND SPRINGS, OKLAHOMA-- A Sand Springs apartment is overrun with ticks. One family says the ticks showed up this summer and their numbers have grown rapidly ever since.

Nicole Isenhour says Apple Creek is a wonderful apartment complex with one tiny problem -- well, hundreds of tiny problems. Her apartment is infested with ticks. She says she kills as many as she can, but they keep multiplying.

"Then it started to get progressively where we found them on the kids," Isenhour said.

Her children are now covered in sores and she says they are having nightmares.

"They bite you and crawl all over you, and it makes you so paranoid. It just creeps you out," Damian Kirk, Nicole's son, said.

Apple Creek's manager did not want to go on camera, but says he's doing what he can to solve the problem.

He says the apartments have been sprayed three times recently, and will be sprayed again Wednesday. But the ticks keep coming back.

"They are surrounding the door frames. They're coming inside the house. You don't have to go in the grass to get the ticks," Isenhour said.

To prove a point, the Isenhours have been collecting the pests for the past day. It's not hard. One showed up on News On 6 reporter Chris Wright's shirt during the interview.

The family hopes the ticks take off soon, or they will be forced to move.

"I understand a little bit of ticks. But not this many. Oh, here's one," Kirk said.

The Isenhours have resorted to daily tick checks. Nicole says she pulls about 30 of them off of her kids every day.
