OKLAHOMA CITY – Fans planning to attend the first home football games for OU and OSU should plan on getting to the games early if they want to avoid heavy, holiday traffic.
The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority says the Turner and Cimarron Turnpikes will likely be clogged Saturday with Labor Day holiday travelers, along with fans heading to and from the games.
Drivers should also prepare for slowdowns due to construction on the Turner Turnpike. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol will have additional troopers working throughout the holiday weekend to catch any traffic violators.
"The construction zone on the Turner is well marked and we will have numerous troopers working in that area this weekend," Captain George Green said. "Troopers have already written over a thousand speeding citations in the construction zone."
The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority says troopers will be especially vigilant on Saturday because of the anticipated heavy traffic.
