PONCA CITY, OKLAHOMA -- A joint venture between Tyson Foods and Oklahoma City-based company Lopez Foods held a news conference in Ponca City Monday morning about reopening a closed Tyson facility there.

The joint venture, Dorada Poultry will occupy the 180,000 square foot facility with operations getting underway by mid-2011.

The move means the hiring of 350 employees.

During a news conference, officials say the plant will provide chicken products to McDonald's restaurants.

That plant closed in 2009, laying off almost 600 employees.

The plant had processed deli meats and pork products.

Tyson is based in Springdale, Arkansas and Lopez Foods has plants in Oklahoma City and Caryville, Tennessee.
